Hersham GreenKingston 2009

Where, when, how?

RF511 stands at the turning area at Hersham Green on 24 Mar 79, a week before the last RF service on the 219.

The turning area is no longer available, so buses on 22 March will serve the stops on the north side of the green

Getting there

Use our free feeder services, from London, Croydon, Gravesend, Staines, Redhill, Dorking.
Times here - the West Croydon feeder now starts from Catford Garage, and an additional feeder will run from Weybridge Station.

Please note that whilst every effort will be made to run feeder services, unavoidable non-availability of a bus may mean that a service cannot run. If possible, check here the day before the event for changes.

Or use the train - timetable here.  Services from Waterloo half-hourly from 1010 to 1210 and services from Guildford via Woking half-hourly from 0957 to 1227 are met by free service 206A at Esher Station.  Connections at Esher Station continue in the afternoon from 1419 to 1704.

Or come by service bus (map): Surrey service 515A passes Sandown Park, TfL service K3 serves Esher, a few minutes walk away.

If you need to bring a car, parking is available in the main Sandown Park car park.  The event is in the coach park, at the east end of the car park.

Where to catch the buses

In Kingston: at Cromwell Road Bus Station, stop A3

At Sandown Park:  Services commencing in the morning and after a break in service at lunch time will start from the avenue in the coach park.  Otherwise services will serve the stops on Portsmouth Road, a few yards towards Esher from the event.

In other places:  See the route details for main boarding points on each route.

Bus service timetables

These are set out in the programme and will be loaded on this site shortly.

Road runs

In addition to the free bus services, there will be two runs over old routes:

Route 206:  a run over route 206 to Fulwell Garage, hopefully including the opportunity to photograph the buses on the forecourt of the garage, will depart from Sandown Park at 1145.

Routes 216 and 218:  a run from Sandown Park to Kingston, then over the 216 to Staines and returning by the 218 to Sandown Park, will depart Sandown Park at 1450.

Some, but not all, of the buses will carry passengers.  The runs are non-stop except for photo stops at the discretion of crews.  Note that access to Fulwell Garage is not permitted except by permission of London United staff on duty.
