The centenary of Merton Garage was
celebrated by Go-Ahead London General, in conjunction with
the London Bus Museum, with a garage
open day on Sunday 17 November. Some historical
background is on the original event
page here.
The static display covered
the majority of Merton's century. Buses from the 1920s to
1960s contrast with London
General's latest, the LT class for route 11.

Go-Ahead London's headquarters, formerly the
pub next to the garage, form the backdrop
to the display. For most of the day,
the area was crowded with a mix of local people.
Garage tours and rides through the bus wash
were immensely popular and raised a
very healthy sum for Merton Mencap.

The opportuntiy for a photo-call inside the
garage at the end of the day was too good
to miss.

Centenary route 100
A well-used special free service was
operated, running from the garage to Wimbledon
Village and past the Tennis Ground using the
route of the annual special service.
Ensign's roofbox RTL453 soaks up the
crowd.

2008, made a welcome return visit to work on
the centenary route 100. It is seen
pulling away from the Wimbledon Station
stop.
